Every week I always found myself saying, “Where’s a museum I should go to next?”

Digging up museums is always fun to do; moreover, most museums in Mexico City are free on Sundays.

Embarking on a journey to explore the vibrant world of Mexican crafts and folk art, I took myself to the Museo Arte de Popular, this splendid art deco building tucked away just blocks from lively Barrio Chino. Standing proudly at Revillagigedo 11, Colonia Centro, I would say this museum is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Mexico and an absolute delight for art enthusiasts.

As I stepped into the museum, I was immediately captivated by the sight of the beautifully decorated Vocho, adorned with Huichol art, which greeted me with its dazzling array of colors and patterns. After I got my ticket, the staff, with a wide smile, directed me to head up to the third floor. The museum has a third floor with four permanent exhibitions: Folk Art Essences, Daily Life, Folk Art and The Sacred, and Fantastic and Magical Things.
