The Kindness of Stranger: A Man in Nusa Penida, Bali
Not everything needs to be returned.
I’ve been lucky to encounter wonderful, helpful people wherever my travels take me.
This series is dedicated to someone I met on my adventures. We may never cross paths again, yet your kindness remains in my memories.
Back in the day, when I traveled to Nusa Penida, Bali. Which wasn’t as famous as it is today.
The island had a spotty signal, lost access to Google Maps led me lost, and the streets were poorly lit when the sky darkened.
Yes, it was like back to the local’s directions, as we called it in Indonesia GPS (Gunakan Penduduk Sekitar).
I remember praying before each trip, “I know I only talk to you when I have a problem, but I hope everything goes well on this trip, and protect me always, God.”
On my way to Kelingking Beach, I got lost a few times. By the time I reached the beach, around 4 pm. Little did I know, the spot was over the other hill.
However, the problem? I worried about leaving my rented motorbike in the middle of nowhere. What if it disappeared by the time I returned? No signal on my phone, and no residents around.
