The Batanghari River Story
When the vital part of our life suffering from trash
Continue from the previous photo story about the Batanghari River.
Those who haven’t seen the photo yet:
I’m going to share my experience with you.
The Batanghari River is the longest in Sumatra, Indonesia, with its mouth situated in my hometown, Jambi.
This river is more than simply a geographical feature; it’s an important part of our life, especially for those who live nearby, providing a source of pleasure for locals: a place to hang out and cruise around in Ketek, a long-tail boat, a transportation route, and also for personal hygiene.
Unfortunately, as you can see in the photo (taken towards the end of 2019), the river is heavily polluted with trash.
I still recall when I was in high school, my friends and I often made a joke to people hanging out by the river, “What do they see there except trash?”
