My Exciting Trip to the Tianguis Market in Tlaxcala
Wandering from stall to stall, I ended up stumbling upon the most unique fruit I’ve ever tasted.
When I heard about the Tianguis market happening every Saturday near where I stay, I got really excited. I couldn’t wait to go and check it out. I thought it might have some cool stuff I’ve never seen or tasted anywhere else hiding between the fresh fruits or veggies.
If you don’t know what Tianguis means, don’t worry; it’s basically an open-air market that happens on certain days in Mexico. You can find all sorts of things there, like fruits, veggies, clothes, meat, and even local foods. And guess what? It’s not just on weekends. Some places have it on weekdays too, like Mondays or Wednesdays. Weird, right? I didn’t get why either.
So, I finally went to this bustling market. As soon as I stepped in, the sellers greeted me with big smiles. They shouted, “Pasa le pasa le!” (“Come over here!”) and “Qué estás buscando?” (“What are you looking for?”) hoping I would stop exploring their stalls.
