I got to see Guelaguetza in Tlaxcala — Something I hadn’t planned before
If you’ve already read my story about my recent trip to Tlaxcala, you’ll know that something wonderful happened: I got to see Guelaguetza desde Oaxaca part of Feria Chiautempan 2023. This was totally unexpected and not in my travel plans. And the journey is more pleasurable when is unplanned, isn’t it? I found out about it the night before I was supposed to go back to Mexico City. I heard there would be a Guelaguetza performance at 4 p.m. in Santa Ana, Tlaxcala. Since I’d always wanted to see Guelaguetza in Oaxaca but never had the chance to go there, I was super excited to see it in Tlaxcala. I even changed my plans and decided to stay one more day.
On the day of the event, I got there early, at 3 p.m., to make sure I had a good spot. This place is located in an amusement park —Recinto Feria Tlaxcala y Palenque. Time passed, and it was almost 4 p.m., but I only saw the stage with no signs of any performance. I asked a girl sitting near the stage, and she told me she didn’t know about Guelaguetza, but there would be a performance from La Tele at 7 p.m. When I checked the poster, it was so right. I was perplexed and a bit disappointed. Then I finally saw some staff from this event, so I approached them and asked what was going on. They told me to be patient, as things would start a bit late.
