Travel Journal — Mexico City
I was just walking around my neighborhood when I came upon this cool place — Jardin Botanico Chapultepec. It’s like a secret garden in the middle of the city, with flowers and typical plants.
The bustling street sounds went away as I passed through the gate, replaced with birds chirping and the rustle of leaves. Despite being in the midst of a busy Reforma Street, I felt transported to another world. The air became crisp, and cacti and agave were bigger than my head as far as I could see.
While strolling around, I spotted a pond and a small bridge. Tip-tap sounds from my shoes as I pass by. It took me to the tropical vegetation that was all around me. To be honest, I felt like I was on a jungle adventure.
As I continued to explore this botanical garden, I stumbled upon this incredible park bench right by a serene pond, surrounded by bamboo. I couldn’t help myself, so I took a brief break from my wanderings, book in hand, ready to dive in.
The pond had a pleasant water sound, almost like a background beat. The leaves were swaying overhead, and the sweet whistles on and on from the unseen birds. It felt like nature was giving me the perfect soundtrack for my reading.
But wait, a squirrel popped out of nowhere, crawled over, tried to catch my attention, thinking I had brought treats to give, and made me chuckle.
